Competitor Safety
The primary responsibility of the referee and the corner judges is to ensure the safety of the competitors. They are authorized to make any decisions necessary to protect the physical integrity of the fighters.
In the event of an accident, the referee must act immediately to check the condition of the competitor and, if necessary, call the tournament physician.
If required, the referee may call a time-out.
Corner Judges and Referee
All bouts will be supervised and judged by five officials:
4 Corner Judges
1 Referee
The referee and corner judges will be appointed by the Mexican Kyokushinkai Karate Organization.
The referee gives all commands and announces all official decisions.
Each official, including the referee, has one vote.
All decisions must be determined by a majority vote of at least three of the five officials.
The tournament physician may decide to stop a bout, after consultation with the officials, if a competitor is unable to continue due to a legal technique or a foul.
If the bout is stopped by the physician due to a prohibited technique (Hansoku Waza), the competitor who committed the foul will lose the bout. The opponent may continue in the next round only with authorization from the tournament physician.
