Start of the Bout

1. The competitors bow toward the official front of the competition area: Shomen ni Rei.
   
   


2. The competitors bow to the referee: Shushin ni Rei.
   
   


3. The competitors bow to each other at the command: Otagai ni Rei.
   
   


4. The fighters take their fighting stance when the referee commands Kamaete, and the bout begins when the referee announces Hajime.
