Seminar, kata tournament and grading — October 18 and 19, 2025
On October 18 and 19, 2025, So-Kyokushin Mexico brought together practitioners of different ages and grades for a weekend of seminar, 2025 Kata Tournament and grading.
The seminar was taught by Sempai Victor Ortiz, instructor of Dojo Tijuana. The activity took place under the Mexican Association of Karate Do Shihan Gessi Krame, with instructors, black belts and representatives of the organization present. Combining a seminar, forms competition and grading in the same weekend is a frequent formula in the school: train, evaluate and recognize progress in a single cycle.

Organization and head table
The event included association officials and instructors. The awards table — with medals and diplomas from the 2025 Kata Tournament — and the presence of the portrait of Sosai Masutatsu Oyama accompanied the ceremony, in the line of the institutional gatherings of the Mexican school.

Seminar and preparation
During the seminar, participants worked conditioning, formation on the tatami, partner exercises and spirit tests characteristic of Kyokushin training: physical reinforcement, breath control and attitude under the group’s demand.

Kata tournament and awards
The 2025 Kata Tournament recognized the top places with medals and diplomas. Although kumite often concentrates public attention in Kyokushin, kata remains a core of technical training and of many gradings. At the close, participants and instructors gathered for the group photo and the presentation of awards.

This weekend reinforced technical training, the competitive spirit of kata and the continuity of gradings within the school.
